GUITAR TEACHERNorman Villas

A guitar pedagogue specializing in teaching beginners, intermediates, and advanced guitar students. His teaching career began when he was still a student. With more than 10 years of hands-on experience, he has gained many techniques and knowledge that can be applied to guitar teaching. His master's degree hasn't stopped him from learning and expanding his knowledge.

Graduated from the University of Santo Tomas Conservatory of Music Major in Guitar 

Performance under the tutelage of Professor Ruben F. Reyes. 

Participated in the 2005 National Music Competition for Young Artists (NAMCYA) – Guitar Category C) and made it in the roster of finalists. In 2008, he won 2nd place at the University of Southern California Guitar Competition with the composition “Harangang Taga” by Bayani Mendoza de Leon. 

As an ensemble player, Norman’s collaborations include, features in “24 Strings Guitar Quartet” at the EDSA Shrine and Paco, “Cabansag-Villas Duo”, “Villancicos Guitar Quartet” at Villancicos de Guitarra 2011, “Cuerdas Duo” in Kohima and Dimapur Concert 2015, and Concert in Delhi and Kolkata International Guitar Festival and Competition.

An active member of the UST Guitar Ensemble since 2004, Norman has performed in most of its concerts. He is also one of the UST Guitar Quartet’s proponents who performed the Philippine premiere of “Malamatina” for guitar quartet by Carlo Domeniconi at UST GUITARRA 2011 held at the UST Museum.

Norman has participated in masterclasses under Joseph Henriques (Spain), Angelito Agcaoili (Philippines/USA), Thibault Cauvin (France) Ruey Yen (Taiwan) and Roland Dyens (France).
